One- and two-day rentals are walk-in only, subject to availability. To get an idea of the remaining equipment, search Bike.Rent for a three-day period starting on the day you plan to ride.
This search shows bikes available for the full three days. It may leave out bikes available for a shorter rental, and it does not hold equipment for you. Advance reservations require at least three days.
Find your fit
An upright riding position and a versatile choice for Island roads and hard-packed trails. A good place to start for most recreational riders.
A little extra goes a long way
Choose from bags, waterproof panniers, clipless pedals, phone holders, battery banks and car racks when booking. Equipment is reserved by category; models may vary.
A helmet and lock are included with your rental bike. Ask about fitting your own pedals or saddle.
Now find somewhere to go ↗Before you roll
Collect your bike during scheduled opening hours. After-hours returns can be arranged in advance; there is no discount for an early return.
After Hours Outfitting is available by advance appointment for confirmed rentals, including Sundays, statutory holidays, and pickup before opening or after closing. A $100 + HST supplement per booking applies for a maximum one-hour time slot.
To request it in Bike.Rent:
Our team will respond by email to confirm your appointment in writing. Your requested time is subject to that confirmation. A staff member will be at the shop for one hour from the confirmed time.
If your plans change, send written notice to rentals@macqueens.com before your scheduled pickup. A new after-hours time slot may require an additional fee.
We cannot store rental or tour guests’ vehicles at the shop. Arrange parking before arriving for your fitting or departure. See our arrival and parking guide.
Luggage storage is available at our office for MacQueen’s bicycle rental and cycle tour clients. Add it as an Extra in Bike.Rent, selecting the number and size of bags.
| Bag size | Daily price |
|---|---|
| Small backpack or carry-on | $1 |
| Medium suitcase | $2 |
| Large suitcase | $3 |
| Oversized bag, including a hard bike case | $4 |
If you’re travelling with your own bikes, check with your accommodation providers about storage. Our tour accommodation providers offer on-site bicycle storage.
Joining a tour? Storage at the shop is separate from daily luggage transfers. See tour luggage limits and collection instructions.
A courtesy repair kit is available, with a limit of one per party. A replacement tube is charged if used. On-call emergency road repair insurance applies only to MacQueen’s rental equipment on Supported Independent tours. It is not included with independent rentals or Island Walk / Confederation Trail packages.
Range varies with the rider, terrain and level of assistance. Plan charging around your daily route and ask the team about your selected model. A stated maximum range is not a guaranteed daily distance.

Yes, for 3+ days. Advance reservations are for rentals of three days or more. Shorter rentals (1-2 days) are available on a walk-in basis only. For a one- or two-day rental, search a three-day period beginning on your intended pickup date in Bike.Rent for an indication of remaining equipment. This only shows bikes free for all three days, may omit shorter availability, and does not reserve a bike for you.
Yes, but you must be 16 years of age or older to operate a power-assisted bicycle in PEI.
A wide variety of accessories are available as add-ons to your rental. View descriptions here. Their pricing is available in the online rental platform.
No. You are responsible for the full retail replacement value if equipment is stolen or damaged. A credit card token is required; MacQueen’s may also pre-authorize a security deposit and will inform you at pickup before doing so. See the rental terms for the conditions that apply to your booking.
We include 1 lock per every 2 bikes in a rental booking at no cost. You’re welcome to bring or purchase extra locks if you prefer to travel/lock equipment separately.
It’s a tiered system. For example, for an individual booking (1-3 bikes), canceling 8-14 days before results in a 50% penalty. Canceling 7 days or fewer before is a 100% penalty. View MacQueen’s published rental cancellation policy
Since ongoing reservations depend on timely equipment returns, late returns (anytime after the confirmed dropoff time) are subject to a penalty of 1.5 times the regular daily rate, charged per day late. Example: A rental at $50/day returned 1 day late would incur a $75 penalty ($50 X 1.5). The same rental at $50/day returned 2 days late would incur a $150 penalty ($50 X 1.5 X 2). Extensions must be confirmed in advance. Equipment not returned per the agreed schedule may be reported as stolen. See the rental terms for full details.
Planning time for a test ride and adjustments in Charlottetown is recommended prior to embarking on a journey. For independent renters, routine maintenance is covered only if you bring the bike back to the shop. Emergency road service calls are not included and, if available, will be assessed fees based on distance/time from the shop. Availability of roadside service is prioritized for MacQueen’s cycle tour customers with an emergency policy, and may not be available for independent renters or those using personal equipment.
Yes. An emergency repair kit consists of 1 tube (or patch kit, or for road/gravel bikes sometimes a CO2 cartridge), 1 pump, tire irons and a multi-tool per booking. If you require additional tubes, patch kits, CO2 cartridges, pumps, or tools, you should plan to bring your own or purchase those in shop as only 1 kit is provided at zero cost per rental booking, regardless of the # of travelers. Any tubes, patch kits, CO2 cartridges provided by MacQueen’s that are used during your rental are payable upon return of the equipment.
No. Overnight parking is not available at MacQueen’s. MacQueen’s has a 1-hour customer parking limit as we have a busy retail shop and limited customer parking. Overnight parking on Prince Edward Island is strictly regulated, with wild camping (sleeping in vehicles outside designated areas) illegal. Most public lots prohibit it and you could risk having your vehicle towed if left unattended overnight, especially for multiple days. Our Traveling to PEI page has information on parkades in Charlottetown that offer full-day and overnight parking. If interested in parking elsewhere while exploring PEI, you should reach out directly to the owners of the property or parking facilities in question to request information on their parking policies.
Yes, they even offer pet-friendly Burley trailer rentals for dogs to join you on the trail.
Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The sooner you book, the higher the likelihood you’ll secure the make/model/size you prefer. Many visitors book 6 months or longer in advance, as availability can be very limited from June-September.
